The AI Bubble is Bursting. Good!
Why the crash of "demo-ware" is clearing the path for the real Agentic AI economy.

Looking at tech news highlights and social media timelines recently, you might think the sky is falling. The "AI Bubble" narrative has officially overtaken the "AI Hype" narrative. Investors are pulling back, skepticism is high, and the realization that "LLMs can’t solve everything" is setting in.
I say: Good. Let it burst.
The "Bubble" was inflated by novelty. Chatbots that write poems, image generators that make weird hands, and demos that look great on Twitter but shatter in production. We have spent the last two years in the "Toy Phase."
But as the noise dies down, a quieter, far more important revolution is happening in the background. We are shifting from Generative AI (creating content) to Agentic AI (executing actions).
However, this shift has hit a massive, invisible wall. It isn't a lack of intelligence; it's a lack of Trust Infrastructure.
"Agentic" is now a word btw... "slang" and "trending" according to Merriam Webster. True story: Agentic - Merriam Webster.
The "Integration Wall"
The reason we haven't seen massive enterprise adoption of autonomous agents yet isn't that the models aren't smart enough. It's that they are dangerous.
When a chatbot hallucinates a poem, it’s funny. When an autonomous agent hallucinates a bank transfer, a database deletion, or a supply chain order, it is catastrophic.
We are currently trying to build the "Agent Economy" using tools built for the "Human Economy."
- OAuth was built for humans clicking buttons.
- API Keys were built for static servers.
- Firewalls were built to stop unauthorized traffic.
None of these solve the fundamental problem of Agent-to-Agent (A2A) communication: How do you verify the intent and identity of a non-deterministic actor?
The Identity Crisis of Autonomous Agents
Imagine you build a "Sales Agent" that interacts with external "Vendor Agents." In a traditional API setup, you might whitelist the Vendor's IP address. But in an Agentic world, that Vendor Agent might be spun up on a serverless function, changing IPs every execution.
Furthermore, how do you know the agent calling your function is actually the Vendor's agent and not a rogue script spoofing the handshake?
This is the $15 Trillion Security Gap.
If we cannot cryptographically prove that an agent is who it says it is and sthat its current request matches a strict, pre-agreed schema, we cannot let agents run autonomously. We are stuck keeping a "human in the loop" simply because we don't have the plumbing to trust the machine.
Why "Governance" is the Wrong Word
Enterprises love to talk about "AI Governance," but they usually mean policy documents and ethics committees. Real governance isn't a PDF; it's code.
Real governance is:
Identity: Cryptographic signatures (JWS) that prove an agent’s origin.
Compliance: Runtime validation that ensures an agent’s output matches a strict JSON schema before it hits the API.
Observability: A record of exactly what the agent tried to do, not just what the LLM "thought."
This is why standards like the A2A (Agent-to-Agent) Protocol is becoming critical. Governed by the Linux Foundation, it provides the standardized "handshake" that allows agents to talk to each other without a human babysitter. It is the TCP/IP of the AI age.
The Shift to Infrastructure
This is why I am bullish on the "Bubble Bursting." It clears out the noise.
The companies that survive 2026 won't be the ones with the coolest "personality" for their chatbot. They will be the ones building the boring, unsexy rails that allow agents to transact safely.

We open-sourced our CLI and core validation tools because this shouldn't be proprietary magic. It needs to be a standard. If you are building agents, you can (and should) validate their cards locally before you ever deploy to production.
The Road Ahead
The "Toy Phase" was fun. But the "Industrial Phase" is where the value is. That phase requires seatbelts, traffic lights, and identity cards.
